Tuff-Coat is a clear, rubberized material applied to the glass portion of the lamp. It reduces the potential for glass stress cracking, adds glue-like strength to the base of the 8 supporting legs and eliminates the risk of shattered glass in the event of lamp breakage.
Please note that glass will always break, and TFL work lights are no exception.
